Jason Kidd is a great Point Guard, don't get me wrong but look at what the Mavericks gave up to acquire him. Here are three reasons why this trade was not worth it.

Reason 1: Jason Kidd is nearing the end of his career
-Jason Kidd is 34 and will be 35 come playoff time. That's not old in real years, but for a basketball player that means he's gone through a lot of wear and tear over the years. At this age if he were to go down to a serious injury his career could be over for good.

Reason 2: They probably won't win a championship with Kidd anyways
-If you really think about it, Kidd was in New Jersey and they were going no where. What makes you think that just because he is going to Dallas makes them any better off. Sure he puts up numbers, but numbers don't necessarily win championships. Look at Steve Nash, he has tons of assists all the time but when was the last championship you saw him win? I'm not saying he can't help them win but I just think it's unlikely

Reason 3: The Mavericks simply gave up too much
-Two first round picks and the future in Devin Harris, woah stop right there. That's more than they should have given up anyways. But they didn't stop right there. They also gave up some key role players in Jerry Stackhouse and DeSagana Diop. I don't know if Mark Cuban just felt too pressured with the Lakers and Suns pulling the trigger on big deals but Mark you gotta keep some of your team.
